Long time coming

Soft clay-model render of a handwritten journal page with rounded edges, warm cream and muted blue tones, conveying quiet reflection.

Speaking in the third person, this post is by Jared. I just haven't created my own account for the blog. Okay, so I tried to write a post a few times now but I just don't like talking about myself. I figured a lot of you guys might be wondering what I've been up to, so here goes.

Therapy & daily progress

Jared attends therapy three times a week, working steadily on strength and mobility. As a C6 quadriplegic, he has limited use of his arms, wrists, and thumbs — and every session builds on that foundation. Progress is measured in small victories, and the routine has become a central part of his week.

Back to the books

In addition to therapy, Jared is enrolled in online courses through Southern New Hampshire University. His coursework focuses on cognitive psychology and differential equations — subjects that keep his mind sharp and move him closer to his goal of returning to Worcester Polytechnic Institute to finish his degree.

Balancing academics with rehabilitation isn't easy, but staying engaged intellectually has been an important part of his recovery. The flexibility of online learning makes it possible to work around therapy schedules and medical appointments.

Looking ahead

Jared's journey is far from over. Every day brings new challenges and new reasons to stay Grier Strong. The support from family, friends, and the WPI community continues to make a real difference — and this blog remains a place to share those steps forward, however small they may seem.
